Desmond Alexander
2020 DCPS Athletic Director of the Year
Affectionately known as “Coach A”, Athletic Director Alexander is a 17-year veteran of Columbia Heights Educational Campus. Coach A has worn many hats at CHEC, serving as math teacher, assistant boys varsity basketball coach, and head coach of the varsity football team. As Athletic Director at CHEC, Coach A has overseen several DCIAA championship teams including MS Boys Soccer, HS Boys Soccer, MS Girls Basketball, HS JV Boys Basketball, HS Varsity Girls Basketball, and HS Varsity Football. A forward thinker as an athletic administrator, Coach A runs a robust athletic program that is always spirited, competitive, and organized. Coach A loves the business of changing lives through sport, and feels his reward is when his former student-athletes become productive citizens who give back to the community.
